CWC Biofuels and Clean World Capital took part in the Honeywell Summit on Pulp, Paper, Power and Biofuels for Europe, Middle East and Africa 2011 in Helsinki. Here Envergent Technologies, a joint venture of Honeywell’s UOP and Ensyn Corp. successfully demonstrated that Pyrolysis oil can be burned in industrial burners and thus generate heat and power. The Envergent RTP is the only commercially proven process of its kind and the only biomass conversion second generation technology operating today that produces a liquid biofuel at commercial scale. The RTP technology (fast pyrolysis) converts biomass, including forest and agricultural residues into a clean-burning, nearly carbon-neutral liquid (pyrolysis oil) that can be burned to generate heat or electricity or further upgraded to other fuels. The fuel, branded as RTP green fuel, can be burned in industrial burners to produce heat or to power electric generators. Envergent Technologies is a world leader in producing biofuels from biomass. "The timing of the demonstration was excellent," said David Jensen, Partner at Clean World Capital and CFO at CWC Biofuels. "We have been very comfortable with the opportunities in pyrolysis oil, but this is the first time that off takers can be identified. The users today are the utilities which burn heavy fuel oil, but we look forward to seeing the future prospects for pyrolysis oil, especially in heavy transportation." CWC Biofuels is a biofuel plant developer focusing on large-scale commercially-proven 2nd generation biofuel production. The company develops and builds biomass conversion plants which will transform non-edible, cellulosic feedstock and wood into green oil without competing with food production. CWC Biofuels deploys the best available technology to process biomass in the most efficient way, including usage of all by-products. The company's plants will produce high quality biofuel for shipping, aviation and road transportation. |
